2017 Welcome

This year's UNO Engineering Forum will be partnering with SSCET, the Southeast Symposium on Contemporary Engineering Topics, for a joint event on Friday, September 15, 2017. Like last year, we will have a discussion panel and interdisciplinary presentations in the morning, followed by a luncheon speaker, and eight rooms of parallel tracks in the afternoon. Details are secret right now, but we'll reveal them as we get closer to the Forum.

Thanks for supporting us! We had a great Forum last year and intend to have an even greater one this year.

2016 Venue: University Center!

The 2016 UNO Engineering Forum will be hosted on the second floor of the University Center (UC). Just off Elysian Fields Ave, the UC provides a number of large, open spaces that lends itself to events and serves as a natural gathering spot.

Prior to 2016, the Engineering Forum was hosted at the Center for Energy Resources Management (CERM). This year, the Forum has moved just few hundred meters southwest to the University of New Orleans' campus.

Parking will be provided in the lot adjacent to the UC at the corner of Elysian Fields Ave and Alumni Dr. The Forum itself will be held on the second floor of the UC.

Role of Engineers in the Future of America: Engineering Education and Leadership

In the morning of Friday, September 16, the Engineering Forum will host a two-hour panel discussing the role of engineers in the future of America. Five panelists, representing industry, academia, and government, will get together to share their views and to answer questions from the panel moderator, each other, and the audience.

If there are issues you would like discussed in the panel, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. !

Here are the biographies of the panel's moderator and the five panelists.

2016 Beginnings

Mark your calendars.  The 2016 Engineering Forum will be on September 16, 2016.  Keep taking a peek at the Sessions page to see the tracks as they get updated for this year.

While you're waiting, check out the schedules from the last two years by going to m.uno-ef.org.

This will be the first year that the UNO Engineering Forum will be separate from SSCET.  As such, we have a new logo!

2015 Welcome from the General Chair

PR head shot

It's my pleasure to serve as the General Chair of the third UNO Engineering Forum which is held in collaboration with Southeast Symposium for Contemporary Engineering Topics (SSCET) in the University of New Orleans Research & Technology Park on September 11, 2015. We have ten half-day parallel technical tracks providing solutions to contemporary engineering topics in electrical, naval, mechanical, chemical, petroleum, computer, communication, and civil & environmental engineering which include approximately one hundred presentations offered by twenty universities, fifteen industrial partners, and keynote and luncheon speakers from participating universities and government.

While 2015 is the third year of the establishment of the UNO-EF, it also marks the sixth annual SSCET at the UNO R&T Park with a very successful record of bringing together a broad range of industry sponsors, universities represented by students and faculty, practicing engineers and consultants, and UNO Engineering alumni. We're proud to report that this year's collaborative effort has surpassed our past records measured by the number of sponsors, presentations, student and practicing engineer interactions, exhibits, and well-known keynote and lunch speakers. Furthermore, on September 03, 2015, we were recognized and received a Proclamation from the Council of the City of New Orleans that includes the statement: "the UNO Engineering Forum is a unique opportunity for interaction and collaboration among participating engineers, students, and faculty, through discussions, workshops, and demonstration forums, connecting UNO Engineering students with professional opportunities within a diverse community and industry professional; now, therefore, Be it proclaimed that the Council of the City of New Orleans recognizes and honors the University of New Orleans College of Engineering on the occasion of 2015 UNO Engineering Forum."

The events, which include breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, and the presentation material, will begin at 7:30 AM and will end at 5:30 PM on September 11, 2015.  Take a look at this brief slide set for an overview and on m.uno-ef.org for details of the 2015 program. We wish that the program is on par with your expectations and you use the events for receiving up to 9 Professional Development Hours.

With my sincere appreciation for your support, it has been our pleasure to work with the affiliated universities and industrial sponsors and partners, and we look forward to seeing you at Lindy C. Boggs Conference Center on Friday September 11, 2015.
